The Sahari Development Organization, in partnership with the French embassy in Sudan, has embarked on a transformative project in the villages of “Momo and Abdoui” within the Azum region of central Darfur. Guided by the principles of sustainable development, this initiative aims to enhance resilience, elevate living standards, and empower women-headed households.
Project Objectives:
1. Building Resilience: The project seeks to strengthen the resilience of returnee women and their families in Azum. By providing targeted support, it aims to enable these households to overcome challenges and thrive.
2. Economic Empowerment: Through training and resources, the project empowers women to take proactive steps toward economic independence. By enhancing their capacities, they can actively shape their own lives.
Implementation Highlights:
* Training: Over the past week, 100 women (50 from each village) participated in agricultural technology training. This knowledge equips them with essential skills for sustainable livelihoods.
* Corn Distribution: A total of 2000 kilograms of corn was distributed (1000 kilograms per village), ensuring food security and supporting local communities.
* Phase Distribution: Additionally, 200 phases (100 for each village) were provided, contributing to agricultural productivity.
* Plow Distribution: To enhance farming practices, 70 plows were distributed, with 30 allocated specifically for one of the villages.
Dreams into Reality: The Sahari Organization and the French embassy remain committed to executing this project effectively. By fostering cooperation and determination, they aim to turn aspirations into tangible outcomes. As Harriet Beecher Stowe wisely said, “Women are the real architects of society.” Together, we build a stronger, more resilient community.
