Health Initiatives:
1. Health Facilities Construction:
* SAHARI supports the construction of health facilities in rural areas, ensuring that essential medical services are accessible to all.
* Our goal is to create a network of well-equipped health centers that cater to the needs of vulnerable populations.
2. Training Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs):
* We provide training to TBAs, empowering them with knowledge and skills to assist pregnant women during childbirth.
* Strengthening the capacity of TBAs contributes to safer deliveries and better maternal health outcomes.
3. Mother and Child Cash Transfer Plus (MCCT+) Program:
* In Port Sudan’s Sawakin locality, we implement the MCCT+ program.
* This initiative directly supports expectant mothers by providing monetary assistance.
* Our aim is to enhance maternal and child health outcomes in the region, with funding from UNICEF.
Nutrition Programs:
1. Nutrition Centers:
* Currently, we operate nutrition centers in Mellit, Al Laiet, and Um Keddada (all in North Darfur).
* These centers provide essential services, including nutritional support and education.
* Our goal is to improve the health and resilience of vulnerable individuals through proper nutrition.
2. Measuring Children’s Height:
* At our nutrition centers, we monitor children’s growth by measuring their height.
* Regular assessments help us identify and address any nutritional deficiencies promptly.
3. Supplements for Pregnant and Lactating Women:
* We provide necessary supplements to pregnant and lactating women attending our nutrition centers.
* These supplements play a crucial role in supporting maternal health and the healthy development of infants.
Sahari Nutrition Program in North Darfur:
* Project Background:
* Sahari Organization for Development, a national Non-Governmental Organization (NNGO), collaborates with UNICEF and the WFP to implement the nutrition strategy in North Darfur.
* We follow the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) Guidelines and align with the Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP) of 2024.
Current Activities:
Sahari is actively involved in North Darfur, providing relief interventions, livelihood assistance, social services, resettlement, and stability programs for conflict- and drought-affected communities.
* We support 28 OTP sites, 16 centers in Umkadadah, and 12 in Alleit.
* 6 TSFP centers in Umkadadah , Alleit and Meleit in Abbasi IDP center.
* Our target is to provide health services to a population of 70,170 in North Darfur.
Expected Project Output:
To support under-five children, adolescent girls, pregnant, and lactating women in accessing quality integrated therapeutic and preventive health and nutrition services.
Ongoing Activities:
* Supporting nutrition interventions at fixed PHC facilities.
* Deploying mobile teams to provide integrated nutrition and health interventions.
* Conducting an integrated nutrition campaign from house to house.
* Ensuring provision of health and nutrition supplies.
* Supporting last-mile delivery of essential supplies and warehousing.
* Facilitating joint monitoring and information management.
* Expanding the capacity of health workers.
